3 FREE Investigative Tools for
Revealing SECRET Information about Vendors
Part 1 of 3
by Joe Rahall Joe@Domain-Names-R-us.com
Every month I receive hundreds of emails trying to get me to buy some Internet Guru’s e-book, course, tele-conference, and software or join their affiliate program.
Claims range from http://www.Corey.Rudl.us making $7.6 Million per year to a lady called “Joan” supposedly making $350,000 per year.
Well who should You believe ?
If you take them at face value and believe them without investigating their claims, you will eventually get ripped off. Their ad copy is so compelling and sounds almost “to good to be true”. Well in MANY cases it is. They show you PROOF that upon investigation appears false.
--- How can you protect yourself ?
--- Which ones should you believe ?
--- How can the Proof be manipulated ?
With a little common sense and the tools listed here you can determine if their claims are probably real.
However nothing is absolute and no matter how much you investigate you still may get cheated. Remember “Caveat emptor” let the buyer beware.
This article is written to show you what I do before I spend money with anyone, and to find out information about competitors. In less than 5 minutes using these tools I have a very good idea if the vendor is someone I am willing to spend money with, or join their
Affiliate program or not.
These ideas should be the considered ONLY as suggestions
and techniques that work for me , and NOT Legal advise.
Tool 1
The first tool I use in investigating a potential vendor is to run a check of him on my Google Toolbar. Go here to download it http://toolbar.google.com/ and to learn more about it http://toolbar.google.com/help.html Then Install toolbar.
Put the desired vendor in your IE browser and search. You can get a ton of information about the vendor just from the toolbar.
Example: Its Page Rank(PR) ranges from 0-10. The higher the number the better. Some sites that have a PR 10 are Microsoft & Google.
Beginning sites get a 0 until ranked. Select the Info Button and then backward Links. The more links the site has pointing to it the
more desirable it is to Google and thus their customers (surfers).
You can use the PR as you surf the web as it displays the PR for every site you visit.
If an offer sounds “to good to be true” and has a PR of 0 it probably is, beware.
If both PR is LOW and have no link backs This “could be” a new website. If they tell you they made $1 M last year, I would be VERY skeptical, but investigate further.
Tool 2
Alexa Toolbar can be downloaded here
http://www.AlexTB.AffiliateInfo.US
This tool gives us even more info on the potential vendor/affiliate.
Put the vendor URL in the IE browser and hit Go. Go to Info
menu and analyze the information. If there is NONE then this could be viewed as a negative. Review the Number of links the-- HIGHER the better.
Ave Traffic Rank -- the lower the better. Check the reviews of the site. Make sure the negative reviews are reasonable and the
+ are not just from friends. How long have they been on line ?
The longer the better. Click on Related Links Check to see what Alexa thinks as similar businesses. You may find a related link selling the same product for a cheaper price or more bonuses.
Tool 3
Way Back Machine – http://www.archive.org Is an archive of web sites back to 1996 but be careful, NOT all are listed. If a Vendor claims to be in business since 1999 and his web site was first archived in 2004 then something is not right and you should investigate further.
To put these tools to practical use we analyze 3 Web Sites in future articles. Send an Email to 3tools@AffiliateInfo.Us
Part 2 of this series will cover my analysis of 2 Internet
Gurus who claim to be making OVER $1 M a Year, and who I
believe are telling the truth.
Part 3 of this series will cover my analysis of a Guru who
claims to be making $350,000 a year. But my analysis shows
several HOLES in her Proof.
